So Damn Insane - Rick Beneteau
Please
allow me to wax somewhat politically this first full week of the New Year.
Week
One in 1999 begins with the re-convening of the U.S. Senate and the
continuation of the Clinton Impalement Hearings. In context, this would be
the equivalent of my spending the past year arguing with my partner over
our respective moral codes and squandering the lions share of our
resources and energy on private investigators, lawyers, lawsuits and the
like over what in reality, doesn't matter at all. Our growth would have
been stunted, our business unattended, our sales would have dwindled and
our customers and affiliates would have mutinied due to our lack of
attention to them. We would have suffered immeasurable harm because of our
selfishness and our apparent need to cause damage to each other. In all
likelihood, NetProfit 2020 Inc. would not have survived such an ordeal.
Now,
here we have not a small corporation, but the most powerful body of
decision-makers in the world, fighting amongst themselves like a bunch of
playground hooligans trying to take out the neighborhood ringleader.
Shamelessly, these supposed learned men and women in whom we have placed
the ultimate trust, flaunt their juvenile biases for all the world to
mock, and let the real issues of today - poverty, health, crime, education
and the world economy - lay limply by the wayside. The ultimate irony is
that we pay these public servants handsomely to improve our quality of
life, and we get this. But that's an entirely separate issue.
To
add sugar coating to the candy, this illustrious body of legislators just
came off of spending hundred's of millions of dollars, risking the lives
of their fellow public servants and inflicting untold death and
devastation upon the innocent, starving population of an impoverished
Middle Eastern country when it seems to me that the clandestinal capital
of the world could certainly have put together a "crew" to
remove one crazed and moustached man from power. SoDamn Insane!!
A
political analyst or moralist I'm not, just a simple businessperson trying
to do his level best on the new playing field of the Internet. But I can't
help but feel good about my company when I use the most powerful
organization in the world, who I should have the ultimate respect and
admiration for, as a measuring stick, and find them to be a laughing stock
instead.
I'm
sure glad I don't run my company like the government.
